Multiple Teams · Game Recap: Tigers vs Chapel Hill

MT. PLEASANT – Chapel Hill trailed for just a brief moment in tonight’s Region II-AAA Regional Quarterfinals game at Willie Williams Gymnasium in Mt. Pleasant and went on to win by a score of 59-41 ending the Tigers march to a return to the Regional Semifinals this weekend in Rockwall.

Led by junior Zachary Shipp, the Red Devils jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter that ended at 12-6 in their favor.  Shipp finished the night with 30 points.

The Tigers would go up 17-16 for their only lead of the night at the 4:11 mark of the second quarter on a layup by Reggie Jeter only to see the Red Devils storm back to take the lead.  A three pointer before the halftime buzzer by Jeter ended the first half with the Tigers trailing 23-20.

Chapel Hill outscored the Tigers 17-10 in the 3rd quarter to lead 40-30 and were led by Shipp and senior Austin Padron who finished the night with 10. The Red Devils continued to outpace the Tigers 19-11 in the 4th quarter to win by the final score of 59-41.

Leading the Tigers tonight were senior Kieston Rushing and junior Reggie Jeter who both finished with 13 points each.  Timmyon Broner with 8, Mikal Reeves 4, Tim Broner 2, and Jahmai Johnson with 1 rounded out the scoring for the Tigers.

Playing in their last game for the Tigers were seniors Kieston Rushing, Keith Bryson, and Jahmai Johnson.
